2019 Growing Greener Grant - Funded!

PALMS submitted a Growing Greener Grant application to the PA Department of Environmental Protection during the 2019 application period in hopes of continuing the PALMS Lake BMP Mini-grant Program to implement lake BMP projects across the Commonwealth.  In December 2020, PALMS was listed as an awardee of a Growing Greener Grant for the Implementation of Lake BMPs Projects IV in the amount of $468,790.  This funding, now complete, provided public education for Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs), support to coordinate PALMS Annual Conferences in 2021-2023, and $374,352.25 towards 23 mini-grant projects that were completed between 2021-2024.

2016 Growing Greener Grant

The PA DEP awarded PALMS $103,068 in 2018 for the 2016 Growing Greener Grant Round for the Lake Best Management Practice (BMP) Project III. This grant provided funding to support the 2019 and 2020 Annual Conferences but the primary purpose of the grant was to provide up to $80,000 towards small projects aimed at improving water quality and recreational value of the Commonwealth’s lakes.  The mini-grantees included shoreline stabilization projects and projects to control of aquatic invasive species. Mini-grantees completed their work in 2019 and 2020.

2015 Growing Greener Grant - Not Funded

Thanks to the efforts of PALMS Executive Director and Board of Directors, PALMS submitted a Growing Greener Grant application to the PA Department of Environmental Protection during the 2015 application period in hopes of continuing the PALMS Lake BMP Mini-grant Program. Unfortunately PALMS was not awarded a Growing Greener grant during this round.

2011 Growing Greener Grant

In 2012, the PALMS Board was able to offer another round of mini-grants thanks to a second generous Growing Greener grant from PA DEP for $283,000. Mini-grant recipients worked diligently to complete a variety of lake related projects to stabilize shorelines, establish riparian buffers, and control invasive species.  PALMS will be wrapping up this grant in June 2018.

2009 Growing Greener Grant

The PA DEP awarded PALMS $250,000 in 2010 for the 2009 Growing Greener Grant Round for the Lake Best Management Practice (BMP) Project. Although the funding provided much needed financial support for the 2011 and 2012 Annual Conferences, the primary purpose of the grant was to fund small projects aimed at improving water quality and recreational value of the Commonwealth’s lakes. PALMS wrapped up this grant project in June 2013.
